Programs

With more girls entering the juvenile justice system, YLOT has developed a gender-specific rehabilitation program; from involving girls in the community to intense counseling. Ms. Wade believes girls need the security of one-on-one relationships as well as building a relationship with others. YLOT is a program that allows them to communicate and have their voices heard as well as provide needed structure. With group meetings focused on being positive without a strict program, YLOT is allowing our young adolescents to be more than just another teen statistic. They will become young women with a future.

YLOT’s goal is to recognize each girl’s issues, whether emotional and/or physical abuse, intimacy with street life, teen pregnancy, addiction, or low self-esteem (self-image) and focus on discovering relevant and creative solutions. We also encourage girls to examine their interests for the purpose of setting achievable short and long-term goals. YLOT believes that when girls recognize the depth of their potential and govern themselves accordingly, they will become productive self-sufficient citizens and contribute to the enhancement of the community at large.

To carry out its mission, YLOT has recruited a team of committed professionals with stellar credentials in the field of counseling, criminal justice, medicine, education, and business.

Research demonstrates that girls in the justice system have histories of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; have family problems; suffer from physical and mental disorders; have experienced academic failure; and succumb more easily to the pressures of domination by older males.
