Goals
In 1999, YLOT was officially incorporated to operate exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 to provide a youth development program. YLOT is authorized to provide basic skills, therapeutic recreation, educational support and cultural activities. Workshop sessions are used to target issues including Attitude Adjustment, Health and Wellness, Job Readiness, and Image Building. These workshops enhance self-esteem, motivation and instill success in young ladies who have had challenges in their young lives.
YLOT’s goal is to recognize each girl’s issues, whether emotional and or physical abuse, intimacy with street life, teen pregnancy, addiction, low self-esteem (self-image) and focus on discovering relevant and creative solutions. We also encourage girls to examine their interests for the purpose of setting achievable short and long-term goals. It is our belief that when girls recognize the depth of their potential and govern themselves accordingly, they will become productive self-sufficient citizens and contribute to the enhancement of the community at large.
To carry out its mission, YLOT has recruited a team of committed professionals with stellar credentials in the field of counseling, criminal justice, education, and business.
Today, in conjunction with the Social Services Division of the District of Columbia Superior Court, the Department of Health Services and Progressive Life, YLOT is providing a youth development program to at-risk girls. The team members of YLOT are committed to sharing their community, business, and life experiences with these young ladies.
